HomeMade Summer (cookbook) Review

Home Made Summer by Yvette Van Boven

If you are a lover of cookbooks like I am and love perusing the photos as much as the recipes, this is the book for you. (intrigued? there's a giveaway at the bottom!! Keep reading)

This cookbook is not only about cooking but great photography, the author also illustrates the book, a young woman of many talents. As I mentioned above, the photos are stunning.

Within the pages of this book you will not find your ordinary run of the mill recipes, no, you will find exotic, international recipes that carry great depth of flavor.

Not all recipes are for everyone, I did try several that we did not care for but as each persons taste is as different as their looks, you have to check out the book and judge for yourself. Several of the other bloggers RAVED about their choices. I went for the simple ones, as I did not have a lot of time to search for ingredients. Remember we live in a TEENY TINY South GA town, so my resources are very limited.

Do you like the finer things in life? Wine, cheese, lavender scones, duck pate? Then you will fall in love with "Home Made Summer". Pick up your copy at

If you enjoy down home comfort food, you might want to skip this one. I did find a few recipes that I enjoyed and a few that I have yet to try, but will. Like the crab cakes...

I love lemon and these light crisp cookies are not overly sweet and require very few ingredients.

So far I have made the : my sweeter rub
ginger lime dressing
lemon thins
white bean hummus
I'm not a big hummus fan, but this white bean hummus has few ingredients that I found in my own pantry and no tahini. Quick and simple, perfect for snacking or a party.

Be sure to check out the other bloggers recipes and their reviews as well. Thanks for stopping by!
