Memories of that fateful day...sss

First a BIG shout out to my mom...
HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY

Previous birthday post:
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 16 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts

She stood there and looked at the old photograph on the dresser, it sat next to her favorite tube of lipstick. in the photo his eyes sparkled and his smile lit up his face, he looks so handsome in his wet-suit with his scuba tank sitting beside his feet. She would never forget that day. It was one of the most wonderful and one of the most tragic all at the same time.
As she stood looking at that photograph her mind wandered back to that fateful day, the day that her life changed forever. The day she met him, the love of her life. the day that she became the happiest she had ever been and the day that her world turned upside down. As she looked at that photograph she absentmindedly picked up the tube of lipstick, she twirled it between her fingers and she said it back down. She had not opened it or worn it since that last day, the day that he walked into her life wearing that wet-suit, carrying that scuba tank, smiling like no one existed but her.
She walked over to the closet and opened it. There sat the scuba tank in the exact same place where she had placed it when she returned. It had not moved, the dust around it had gathered, she shut the door, leaned against it and closed her eyes.
If only she had up and walked away, maybe she could've walked away, maybe she could've still been happy, maybe... but life isn't built on maybes. You can exist but you can't have a life. No she would not go back and change it even if all she had was that one day of happiness she would not go back and erase it for that one day of happiness had given her years of memories, tears and smiles. The scuba tank, the photograph and the tube of lipstick sat in the same place as they had for three years as a constant reminder to never give up and always have hope, faith and to enjoy love while it was there.
